Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the BioCCEA website, applications and services ("Service"). The Service is operated by and you are contracting with Eddie O Hare (trading as BioCCEA). Eddie O Hare is the legal entity that provides the Service and is the seller of all subscription plans. By creating an account or using BioCCEA, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Acceptance of terms

By accessing or using BioCCEA, you confirm that you are at least 16 years old or have the consent of a parent or guardian. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the Service.

2. Description of the service

BioCCEA provides CCEA Biology study and revision tools for CCEA AS and A2 Biology, including spec-aligned quizzes, revision notes, photo marking, past-paper analysis, verbal answer practice and progress tracking. We are an independent educational tool and are not affiliated with or endorsed by CCEA.

3. Payment processing

Subscription payments are processed securely by Stripe, Inc. Stripe handles payment processing, subscription billing, invoicing and tax calculation on our behalf. BioCCEA remains the seller of the subscription; Stripe appears on your bank or card statement as the payment processor.

4. Accounts and registration

To access certain features, you must create an account. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep your password secure. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised use.

5. Subscriptions and billing

BioCCEA offers free and Pro subscription plans. Pro subscriptions are billed by Stripe on a monthly or annual basis. Current prices are displayed on the Pricing page. All fees are payable in advance and are non-refundable except where stated below or as required by law.

New paid subscribers may receive a trial period as described at checkout. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your subscription will convert to a paid plan and you will be billed automatically.

You can also unlock Pro by referring friends, as described in the referral programme. Referral Pro access is granted for a limited period and is subject to fair-use limits.

6. Cancellation and refunds

You may cancel your subscription at any time from your billing portal or by contacting us. Your access will continue until the end of the current billing period.

We offer a 14-day money-back guarantee on your first paid month. If you are not satisfied, contact us within 14 days of your first payment and we will refund it. This refund is limited to one per account. Annual subscriptions are not eligible for a full refund after 14 days, unless required by law.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to use BioCCEA to:

• Violate any applicable law or regulation;
• Infringe the intellectual property rights of others;
• Upload harmful, illegal, abusive, discriminatory or sexually explicit content;
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, copy or disrupt the Service;
• Share account credentials or use automated tools to access the Service;
• Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that breach these rules.

8. Content and intellectual property

All content, software, branding and materials provided by BioCCEA are owned by Eddie O Hare or our licensors and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute or create derivative works from our content without permission.

You retain ownership of the study content you upload. By uploading content, you grant us a limited licence to process it for the purpose of providing feedback, marking and related services.

9. Generated content disclaimer

BioCCEA uses automated systems to generate feedback, explanations, notes and predicted grades. While we design our prompts to align with the CCEA specification and examiner language, generated output may occasionally contain inaccuracies. Always verify important answers against your course materials, textbooks and official mark schemes.

BioCCEA is a study aid, not a substitute for a teacher, tutor or official assessment. Predicted grades and other analytics are estimates for motivation and planning only.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Eddie O Hare, trading as BioCCEA, shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you have paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

11. Termination

You may delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms, engage in conduct that harms other users, or if we are required to do so by law. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately.

12. Changes to the service or terms

We may update the Service, pricing, features or these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified by email or by posting a notice on the site. Your continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Northern Ireland, and any dispute arising from them shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Northern Ireland.
